Ransom Canyon season 2 is on Netflix now and as beautifully heartwarming as the strongest seasons of Virgin River — but the Western drama pales in comparison to Yellowstone spinoff Dutton Ranch

In life, you often have to meet something at what it is, not what you want it to be. This is the logic that I need you to apply to Ransom Canyon season 2 when you watch it, as all eight episodes drop on Netflix on July 23. This Western drama soap opera hybrid serves to entertain, but it doesn’t ever aim to cross a boundary. It’s not striving to be the best TV show of 2026, or do anything remotely challenging or ambitious. Ransom Canyon is a show that stays in its subtly cringe and often stereotypical lane… and for that, I’m thankful. I don’t need all of my television to be profound, life-changing or even that meaningful.
